Point Loma Acupuncture & Massage Blog!!!

Welcome!!! I am obviously using an old blog that has been dormant for the last few years!  My goal is to start posting articles about the benefits of acupuncture & massage therapy.  I often get asked about what acupuncture really is doing to help overcome symptoms… how does it actually work?  I have a couple pages that answer those questions, and a few videos featuring acupuncture in the news.  I plan to expand on that and delve further into how acupuncture can help with specific conditions.  Also, I am going to include more information on the benefits of regular massage, and the types of conditions that I treat with massage therapy.  Other topics that will be covered will be anything health related including diet & nutrition, exercise, relaxation & stress reduction, etc.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks, Erica

More Insurance Plans Accepted

More insurance plans are covering acupuncture treatments now.  I am credentialed provider for more insurance plans including Anthem Blue Cross, HealthNet, and several others.  If you are interested in receiving acupuncture treatments, and want to see if your insurance plan covers acupuncture, give our office a call.  We will gladly check your plan to see what benefits you have, and schedule your initial visit.  Some plans only cover a short list of conditions including pain conditions or injuries, migraines or headaches, or nausea.  If you don’t have insurance, our out of pocket costs are very resonable and we will gladly work with you to make a treatment plan that is affordable.

Acupuncture Treats Back Pain Best

Results of an exciting NIH (National Institutue of Health) study were just published regarding the effectiveness of acupuncture at treating chronic low back pain.  The study found that acupuncture, and even simulated (non-needle) acupuncture were more effective than standard care at relieving low back pain.
If you are suffering from chronic back pain, give acupuncture a try.  It helps to relieve chronic muscle stiffness, tight tendons, and inflammation around the joints in the spine.  As mentioned in the study, results can be felt after a short series of treatments!
